Our Story: From a waiting room to a technological revolution
A promise put to the test
On September 26, 2019, I landed in Montreal with my wife and children, filled with hope and a promise: to protect my family. But the reality of the healthcare system quickly shattered this certainty. Whether it was a nine-hour wait at the ER on New Year's Eve or the inability to find a family doctor, the feeling of powerlessness was total.
This feeling reached its peak the day my daughter, after a five-hour wait for a broken leg, told me: "Dad, if we had taken a flight back [to Algeria], we would have already arrived." She was right. Several times, I had to bring my family back to Algeria to get quick care, while blaming Quebec doctors for these failures.
The turning point: A change of perspective
Everything changed in December 2024, during a chance encounter at my airport counter. A passenger, a doctor herself, took the time to explain her reality to me: the administrative deluge, complex RAMQ billing, incessant faxes, and disconnected systems devouring her time.
I understood that day that the problem wasn't the doctor, but the system crushing them before they even enter the exam room.
The birth of AuraScribe
Driven by a moral debt to the medical profession, I decided to move from criticism to action. Without being a developer, but supported by the technical expertise of my wife and sister, I set out to build a solution that tackles the root of the problem.
